The Lubbock Independent School District said Friday that 18 goats were shot dead, and 11 were severely injured. This happened at the school district’s barn near O’Banion Field.

Of the 11, ten will be put down.  The one remaining goat that is well enough will be sent home with an ag student.

Initially the LISD said the deaths were a combination of shooting and poisoning.  However, after further investigation, that information was updated to say all the dead and wounded animals were shot.

Spokeswoman Nancy Sharp described it as a senseless killing.
