Little Boy From Andrews Recovered, Amber Alert Canceled

The Texas Department of Public Safety issued an Amber Alert Friday for Iviz Rascon, age 1, who was reported missing and abducted.  DPS said the suspect was Edwin Rascon, 19, who had last been seen in Andrews. 

DPS later said the Amber Alert might be related to a deadly shooting in Southeast Andrews County. 


Then, Friday evening, DPS said, “Authorities received a call from an unknown person who stated they had the infant child missing from the Amber Alert in their custody at the Stripes store located at 5201 East 42nd Street in Odessa, Texas.”

The statement also said, “The infant son was safely recovered and suspect Edwin Rascon is still at large. Amber Alert will be de-activated.” 

Rascon was described as 5’10” tall and 190 pounds. He was also described as having brown hair and green eyes.  Rascon was last seen in a white hat, black shirt, and black jeans.

DPS issued the following statement late Friday afternoon:

Today at approximately (11 a.m. CT), Texas Rangers were called to respond to a shooting of an adult male that occurred near 1744 SE 5001 in Andrews, Texas. Preliminary reports show that Edwin Rascon, 18, of Odessa, has been identified as a suspect in the homicide investigation in Andrews County. Rascon then took his infant son without permission and an Amber Alert has been issued. No additional information is available at this time.
