Senior forward Anthony Livingston went from goat to hero in a matter of minutes in Texas Tech’s 77-76 overtime win over No. 7 West Virginia Tuesday at United Supermarkets Arena.
The graduate transfer bit on a shot fake in the final seconds of regulation leaving Mountaineers forward Nathan Adrian wide open for a game-tying three pointer but made up for it in the extra frame.
Texas Tech (12-2, 1-1) trailed 76-74 until Livingston knocked down the game-winning three with 4.6 seconds remaining to give the Red Raiders their first Big 12 win.
Livingston finished with 12 points and was one of four Red Raiders to finish in double figures.
West Virginia entered the game forcing nearly 26 turnovers a game but the Red Raiders limited the mistakes and turned the ball over just 13 times.
Chris Beard’s club now travels to Lawrence, Kansas to face the third-ranked Jayhawks at 6:15 p.m. Saturday.
