Tomorrow marks the First Friday Art Trail and local food trucks are getting prepared for the event. Several of these food trucks have come together recently to create an alliance to help expand their businesses.

“We were working with parks and recreation and they kinda suggested we form an alliance. It has become a fellowship and learning experience from one to another,” said Alan Hill, owner of Street Sweets food truck.

They say there are several rules and regulations that come along with owning a food truck. Their reasoning in forming the alliance in the first place, was to help with communication between all of the trucks and the city of Lubbock.

“We wanted to show the city that we are willing to work with them and get along. We are working together to make it legal to go to different parks and different areas of lubbock,” said Hill.

Not only expanding in parks but the group has also created some new events of their own that focuses on allowing the public to come and eat.

“The alliance is going to have its own two monthly events. One will be the first Saturday of each month on 50th street and the other will be the second Saturday of each month at the South Plains Fair Ground,” said Hill.

This group they say also focuses on giving back to the community of Lubbock by attending events for the Blood Bank and Canned Food Drives. If you are interested in hiring any of the food trucks you can reach out to them at https://www.facebook.com/lubbockfoodtruckalliance/
