The Kmart and Sears locations here in Lubbock and in Hobbs are not on the list of stores slated to close in July.
Sears Holdings Corporation announced on Thursday that 68 Kmart and 10 Sears stores across the country will close this summer.
In a press release, the company said the decisions were made after a “comprehensive evaluation of the company’s store portfolio that took into account historical and recent store performance, and the timing of lease expirations.”
The Kmart stores in Sweetwater, El Paso and Mission will be closing in July. No Sears stores in Texas were slated to close.
No Kmart or Sears stores in New Mexico were listed to be shuttered.
