LUBBOCK, Texas – The 14th Annual Burkhart Walk for Autism Awareness will be held on Sunday, April 28 at Texas Tech University.

The event will take place from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the John Walker Soccer Complex.

There is no registration fee, but donations are welcomed.

The Burkhart Center for Autism Education and Research is part of the Texas Tech College of Education and is the premier center in Lubbock for helping people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families. 

The center offers a variety of services, including education for teachers, research opportunities and events and resources for those affected by ASD.

The center’s flagship program is the Transition Academy.

The students learn valuable job and life skills. Many students have jobs through partnerships between the Transition Academy, Texas Tech and community organizations.
