City of Lubbock Community Development will highlight the results of their work during National Community Development Week, April 2-6. This week recognizes the impact of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program and the HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) Program.
The City of Lubbock Community Development Department will kick-off the celebration with a CD Week proclamation on Tuesday, April 3. The event will start at 4:00 p.m. and will take place at the Legacy Event Center, located 1500 14th Street.
The celebration continues on Friday, April 6 with the Community Development Showcase. This event will take place from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts, located at 511 Avenue K. Community members are invited to see how these grants have improved the lives of people in Lubbock.
All events are open to the public.
The CDBG Program provides grants to more than 1,200 state and local governments and funds activities such as housing rehabilitation, business assistance, and senior services. The activities are primarily targeted to low and moderate-income households. The HOME Program provides grants to more than 600 state and local governments to create safe and affordable housing.
