2nd suspect in Coyote Moon officer-involved shooting captured

The second suspect in an officer-involved shooting was captured Wednesday, according to Lubbock Police.

Jelani Ashley, 20, ran off from the Coyote Moon Game Room, according to police and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Police were called to a robbery at the game room just before 2:00 a.m. Monday at 39th Street and Avenue A.  Police confronted Isaac Knighten (also known as Isaac Jackson) who was armed, police said.  Two officers fired at Knighten.

As of Tuesday, Knighten was still in critical condition at University Medical Center.  Even though he was hospitalized, he was still considered to be in custody for aggravated robbery.

One officer suffered minor injuries in the robbery.  The officer was not hit by gunfire but was hit by a door when one of the suspects came out of the building.  Aside from Knighten and the officer, no other injuries were reported.

Police asked for the public’s help on Tuesday to find Ashley.  It just so happens, Ashely granted an interview to EverythingLubbock.com a few days before the robbery. He talked on camera about the need for more police protection in his neighborhood.
