The fifth annual Texas South Plains Honor Flight golf tournament sponsored by Frito Lay will be held May 19th at the Rawls Golf Course on the Texas Tech University campus. The tournament will be a four-man scramble format with double shotgun starts scheduled at 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Entry fee is $450 per team and includes breakfast burrito, lunch at noon and dinner.
Range balls and a bag of donated gifts will be available to every player as well as a coupon for free golf merchandise.
Hole sponsorships are available for $300. A combination package of a hole sponsorship and a 4-man team is priced at $650, a savings of $100.
As part of the event, $10,000 will be paid to all holes-in-one on the par 3 sixth hole. Any hole-in-one on the other par 3 holes also will be awarded great prizes. There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams in both flights.
In addition, golfers and others in attendance will be able buy raffle tickets for great prizes, including a weekend getaway for four to Dallas for a round of golf at the Cowboy Club and tickets to a Texas Ranger game.
For more information about the tournament, contact Robert Baker at 553wine@unitedtexas.com, call (806)-577-3030 or print out a mail-in entry form online at southplainshonorflight.org. Applications will be accepted through May 12th.
The Texas South Plains Honor Flight will fly U.S. military veterans, from World War II, Korea and Viet Nam to Washington, D.C., this fall in order for them to see their monuments and honor them for their service.
All proceeds from the tournament will help defray costs for this year’s sixth annual all-expenses-paid trip for the veterans.
The organization’s volunteers work year round to raise over $220,000 that is needed to underwrite the event.
