Anthony Acosta was sentenced to 10 years in prison for a 2015 hit-and-run collision that killed 50-year-old Reynaldo Rincon.

A jury handed down the sentence Thursday, hours after finding Acosta, 38, guilty of failure to stop and render aid.

On March 8, 2015, a driver hit Rincon around 1:13 a.m. near 32nd Street and Avenue G. The driver did not stop, according to a police report, and Rincon died at the scene.

A Crime Line tip later helped police determine Acosta was driving the vehicle.

A police report showed Acosta, who worked for a collision repair shop, fixed his car to hide damage sustained in the collision. He was charged with tampering with evidence, but he was not prosecuted for that charge.
