The City of Lubbock continues to provide personnel and resources to assist in the emergency response to Hurricane Harvey.
The City now has 28 personnel and 14 pieces of equipment in the Texas Gulf Coast region. City of Lubbock personnel includes 13 members of the Lubbock Police Department, 12 members of Lubbock Fire Rescue, one member of the City of Lubbock Codes Department, one member of the City of Lubbock Animal Services Department, and one member of the City of Lubbock Public Works Department.
The added personnel includes two City of Lubbock employees, one Lubbock Police Department employee, and one Lubbock Fire Rescue employee who are part of the South Plains Incident Management Team (SPIMT). These four SPIMT members left Lubbock Friday morning and are scheduled to assist in the Jasper, Texas area.
Ten Lubbock Police Department personnel also left Friday morning to relieve the 11 officers who have been deployed since Monday.
The City of Lubbock will continue to support the emergency response effort at the request of the State Operations Center in order to assist in the most effective way possible. The City has a public works crew with equipment on stand-by, and Lubbock Fire Rescue has an additional engine with crew on stand-by. At this time, no request has been made to open shelter operations in Lubbock by the State Operations Center.
City of Lubbock Emergency Management will remain in contact with the State Operations Center and City personnel deployed to the coast to provide additional support as requested.
