The following is a news release from All Saints Episcopal School:

Audience members were excited to learn Friday during a special announcement at All Saints Episcopal School’s Grandparents and Special Friends Day celebration that the school will soon begin a renovation and expansion project for the school’s Middle School as well as adding to the technology and robotics curriculum for students in Kindergarten through 12th grade. Improvements will also be made to the athletic facilities.

All Saints Headmaster Bruce Latta said the $3 million Building on Strength campaign theme was chosen to honor the school’s continued commitment to improvement throughout its 63-year history. This project is a continuation of the school’s efforts to provide a quality learning environment with unique educational opportunities.  Strong early support for the new project has already garnered pledges for over half of the funding needed.

“Building on Strength is much more than a beautiful building, great technology, and innovative curriculum. It’s a statement,” Latta said. “All Saints will do whatever it takes to prepare children to thrive in our rapidly changing world.”

The Middle School expansion is a new two-story building with spacious hallways and lockers. The building will include new classrooms, a robotics lab, a science lab, and an administrative office as well as storage space. Additional restrooms for students and faculty will be included as well.  All of the new rooms will be equipped with state of the art technology and will include the latest audio/video equipment to enhance the learning experience.  The new space will also be designed to accommodate new technologies as they become available. The new building will be located and tied to the northwest corner of the existing Middle School and will be the primary entryway for students.  The design of the new entrance is two-story and will be similar in appearance to the high school entrance.  Renovations to the current Middle School will update and increase functionality of the building.

“The Middle School has grown so much in recent years that we have run out of space for new course offerings,” Greg Hutchinson, All Saints Middle School Division Head, said. “We desperately need new space to continue giving our students the best education on the South Plains.”

The Building on Strength campaign will provide funding for technology and robotics programming for students enrolled in Kindergarten through 12th grade.

“Implementing these courses aligns with All Saints’ strategic goal to improve instructional programs and teaching materials, emphasizing the added value of our program,” Dr. Penny Carpenter, All Saints Director of Instruction and Technology, said.  “We want to challenge students’ critical thinking skills and encourage the practical application of the concepts they learn in core content areas.”

In 2013, All Saints raised $5 million for a campus wide expansion that included facilities for students in all grade levels, which included the Kirby Commons multi-purpose area for stage performances as well as lunchroom services, the Talkington Fine Arts Center which houses three Visual Art Studios, Orchestra/Band Hall, Choir/Music Room, and Black Box Theatre.

In addition, All Saints launched a high school in 2013 facilitating the need for spaces to accommodate high school students.  This included an addition housing six classrooms, two science labs, computer lab, and competition-sized gymnasium with locker rooms and training facilities, as well as a student lounge area, and administrative offices.

“During the initial phase of the Building on Strength campaign, the school has received numerous leadership gifts along with strong support from the Board of Trustees and faculty,” Celeste Thompson, All Saints Institutional Advancement Director, said.  “Going forward we plan to host informational events with members of the school community to share about opportunities for involvement.”
