The following is a news release from Alliance Credit Union:

Alliance Credit Union will host a shred day event free to the public. Donations will be accepted and given to The Salvation Army of Lubbock. On Saturday May 12th from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m., members of the community can go to Alliance Credit Union Main Office (8401 Quaker Ave) to dispose of old tax documents, bank statements, or other sensitive documents.

“The credit union philosophy is ‘People Helping People'”, said Josh Wade, Chief Operations Officer of Alliance Credit Union. “We wanted to give the public an opportunity to dispose of their documents safely and securely. While doing this, we are able to help out a local charity.”

The Salvation Army is raising money to send kids to Camp Hoblitzelle this summer. Throughout the summer months, the camp staff transports at risk children from low-income families and provides them with a week away from the stressors of life. Campers range in ages from 7 to 16 and are afforded a week-long camp experience to play together, learn from each other, and grow in their relationships with Christ and others. The Salvation Army of Lubbock would like to provide an unforgettable camp experience to 100 at risk children from our community. With the help of events such as Shred Day, The Salvation Army of Lubbock looks forward to raising the funds to make a lasting impact on the lives of children right here in Lubbock.

“We want to give a child a chance to be a child and have an unforgettable summer,” Kris Perez, Community Relations and Development Coordinator for The Salvation Army of Lubbock said. “What they learn from camp they cannot bring in a backpack. We appreciate community businesses like ALLIANCE Credit Union who see the vision and wants to help us achieve it.”

WesTex Document, Inc. will be on site to shred all documents as they receive them.
