Volunteers with Andrew’s Mission and Lubbock Fire Rescue helped spread cheer on Saturday at Covenant Children’s Hospital.
Most of the children receiving these toys will be spending the holidays in the hospital.
“There’s nothing in the world that brings more joy to myself and to our volunteers than to walk into a child’s room and give them a toy. To put a smile on those kids faces is priceless. There are no words to describe that feeling,” said Andrew’s Mission founder Sasha Downing.
Andrew’s Mission was founded in honor of her late son Andrew Villarreal.
Andrew passed away in 2012 from a congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.
He was missing the entire left side of his heart and spent about half of his life in the hospital.
This is the seventh year toys have been delivered to these sick children.
