WHAT:
FIRST® Tech Challenge (FTC) North/Central/South League Championship Tournament
WHEN:
1-7 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 3)
WHERE:
Lubbock High School, 2004 19th St.
EVENT:
Teams of high school students from Lubbock and surrounding cities will participate in the FIRST® Tech Challenge (FTC) North/Central/South League Championship Tournament. Winners will advance to the Panhandle Championship where they will compete against teams from El Paso, held Feb. 17 in Lubbock.
The event is sponsored by the Texas Tech University Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering and SM Energy.
FTC is a challenging, mid-level robotics competition designed for high school students who want a hands-on learning experience to develop their skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Teams of up to 10 students are responsible for designing, building and programming their robots to compete in an alliance format against other teams. The robot kit is reusable from year to year and is programed using a variety of languages. Teams, including coaches, mentors and volunteers, are required to develop strategy and build robots based on sound engineering principles.
