Bank Loan Day hosted by First United Bank on Thursday, April 4

The following is a news release from Lubbock Lemonade Day via Landtroop Strategies:

Lubbock Lemonade Day title sponsor, First United Bank will once again host this year’s Bank Loan Day on Thursday, April 4th from 4 – 6 p.m. at their 4th & Frankford location. Young entrepreneurs and families from across the South Plains are invited to come enjoy refreshments, register their stands, get business and financial training, and apply for a loan. Lemi the Lemonhead will be on site to sign autographs and ‘squeeze the day!’

“Bank Loan Day is special to me personally because of my passion for youth-owned businesses,”stated Mark Bain, CEO of First United Bank. Robert Taylor (CEO of the United Family)and I recently reminisced about our first lemonade stands all those years ago and the countless lessons we learned from that experience. Helping introduce area youth to those principles and sparking an entrepreneurial journey for them is so important to us here at the bank and to the future of the region. We are honored to serve the community in this way.”

Leading up to this event, First United Bank has been hosting school assemblies to educate students on good banking principles and small business. Participants with a business plan can fill out a loan application and speak with a loan officer at the event (all the forms will be provided). Each stand has the opportunity to apply for a small loan of up to $40 to help launch their small business. Borrowers are expected to pay the loans back within one week of Lemonade Day (May 10th), with a $1 fee as part of Lemonade Day lessons on borrowing money. First United Bank will be offering tours of the bank, including a sneak peek into the vault, as well as refreshments and festivities.
