Brownfield man admits child pornography allegation

Ted Dean Speicher, age not listed, of Brownfield accepted a plea deal this week in federal court for possession of child pornography.

Court records said in May of 2018, an agent with the New Mexico office of Attorney General investigated a so-called BitTorrent that contained at least one image of child pornography. BitTorrent is a way of sharing files directly between users (peer-to-peer) without using a regular internet server.

The agent was able to download four confirmed images of child pornography, court records said.  And the images were traced back to Speicher’s laptop computer.

In August of 2018, Speicher was confronted by Brownfield Police and admitted to using BitTorrent to download child pornography.

If the plea deal is accepted, Speicher will be sentenced at a later date to no more than 10 years in federal prison.
