A medical call for an unresponsive person lead to the evacuation of a residential facility in Central Lubbock Tuesday morning.

The incident was reported around 8:30 a.m. in the 1600 block of 16th Street at Kingdom Towers.

Lubbock Fire Rescue said when their crew arrives on the scene, they found high levels of carbon monoxide (CO) inside the structure.

Additional crews were then called to the scene and a structural response was initiated.

LFR said all tenants were evacuated while firefighters searched all three floors and checked CO levels.

Two residents were transported by ambulance to the hospital.

LFR said the cause of the CO buildup is unknown at this time, but may have occurred due to a gas leak.
