Charges were dismissed “in the interest of justice” last week against Linda Childers-Perry, 57, of Lubbock.
Childers-Perry was arrested in December in the 2800 block of 62nd Street for aggravated assault and deadly conduct. Both charges were dismissed.
A police report said her adult son tried to push through the front door and fired a shot. The police report said the shot nearly hit a neighbor.
Childers-Perry told police at the time that she discharged the gun accidentally.
Childers-Perry sent a message to KLBK via Facebook. It said in part, “I don’t have my job any more, I was humiliated, embarrassed and shackled in chains.”
“All my life I had to fight,” she said. “I can’t fight this, I won’t win.”
“I lost, my job, my pride, my income, my insurance. My life is set back, time taken, and no one cares about that,” Childers-Perry said.
EverythingLubbock.com left a message with the office of Lubbock County Criminal District Attorney to ask more specifically what was meant by “in the interest of justice.”
We have been told by family members that her adult son has sent threatening text messages in the past such as “I’ma [sic] kill everybody who talked behind my back…”
