Child dies day after ATV crash in Lubbock County

A 5-year-old boy died of injuries suffered in a July 4 ATV accident, the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.

The crash happened around 7:19 p.m. in the 4500 block of Iona Street.

According to the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office, deputies believe the boy was riding a small ATV when it came into contact with a Can-Am ATV driven by a family member.

He was wearing a helmet, LCSO said. He was thrown from the ATV and was seriously injured.

The boy, identified as Campbell Longley, was transported to University Medical Center.

“On July 5th, at approximately 4:20 a.m., 5 year old, Campbell succumbed to his injuries caused by the ATV accident,” LCSO said.
