City Bank will officially introduce the 18 recipients of its 2017 $60,000 Community Rewards program at noon, Thursday, Dec. 14. The announcement and presentation of rewards will be held at the Griffith Center, located on the lower floor of the bank’s main branch at 5219 City Bank Parkway.
2017 marks the 10 year for Community Rewards. Following Thursday’s awards, City Bank will have
contributed $540,000 to more than 110 nonprofit groups in Lubbock and the South Plains area.
The 18 winning organizations—the top three from each of six categories—are: Stepping Stones,
Goodwill Industries of Northwest Texas, Breedlove Foods, The Junior League of Lubbock, Remember
Our Heroes, National Cowboy Symposium & Celebration, GraceLubbock Homeschool Group,
Roosevelt ISD, Early Learning Center of Lubbock, Epilepsy Foundation Texas, Hospice of Lubbock,
Operation Screen Your Athlete, Saving Grace Pit Bull Rescue, Morris Safe House, Second Chance
Dog Rescue, South Plains Council Boy Scouts, Children’s Connections and Texas Boys Ranch.
First place in each of the six categories receives $5,000; second place gets $2,500 and third place
receives $1,000. Another $5,000 will be awarded to the organization that collected the most votes
during the duration of the balloting.
The $60,000 Community Rewards launched on Sunday, Oct. 29. The 18 winning agencies were
determined via online voting of city and area residents. Voting closed on Sunday, Dec. 10. Some 100 nonprofits were represented on the ballot and 10s of thousands of votes were cast.
