The Lubbock City Council on Thursday will vote on three proposed street projects.

The council will vote on a $1.9 million project to rebuild the intersection of Milwaukee Avenue and Erskine Street.

The city council’s agenda said, “This project will be a total re-rebuild of the existing road base and road surface for North Milwaukee Avenue from Fourth Street to Marshall Street, and Erskine Street from Frankford Avenue to the west city limits.”

It also said, “Included in this project is extra paving adjacent to the Frenship Legacy Elementary School located on North Milwaukee Avenue, to facilitate safer traffic movements adjacent to the school.”

The city’s staff has recommended that West Texas Paving, Inc. of Wolfforth be chosen as the contractor for the job.  Once a contract is finalized, there will be a 120-day deadline to get the work done.

The city council will also consider an asphalt replacement project in various places across the city for just more than $1 million.

And the council will consider a concrete replacement project for various locations across the city for just less than $1 million.

In both cases, the city staff recommended that Lone Start Dirt and Paving of Lubbock be chosen as the contractor.  Both the asphalt project and the concrete project have 120-day deadlines once a contract is finalized.
