Lubbock Fire Rescue responded to the 2400 block of 24th Street Friday morning for a gas leak.
LFR said 18 to 20 houses were evacuated.
A photojournalist at the scene said, 24th Street and 25th Street were blocked off to traffic so crews could work to stop the leak.
The City of Lubbock said, “A City of Lubbock Sewer Line crew did hit a gas line in the alley while working in that area.”
So far there are no reports of injuries.
