City of Lubbock Assisting in Harvey Emergency Response

The City of Lubbock continues to provide personnel and resources to assist in the emergency response to Hurricane Harvey. Currently, the City has 20 personnel and 16 pieces of equipment in the Texas Gulf Coast region. Personnel includes 11 Lubbock Police Department personnel, 8 Lubbock Fire Rescue personnel, and 1 City of Lubbock employee.

Additional equipment and personnel will be available to assist in the emergency response as well. One additional fire engine and crew as well as a shallow water boat with a combined police and fire crew have tasking orders and will respond to the affected area later tonight.


Numerous evacuee shelters are now open throughout the northern, southern and central portion of the state. There are currently no requests to open shelter operations in Lubbock by the State Operations Center.

The City of Lubbock Emergency Management team will continue to support the emergency response effort in coordination with the State Operations Center in order to assist the impacted area in the most effective way possible.
