A city worker was hurt Thursday morning in an accident at Slide Road and 9th Street.
Police said William James Turpin, 30, a City of Lubbock Water Department employee, was working on a water line in the area. Police described the location as a construction area.
Police said, “He attempted to walk across the lanes open to traffic and was struck by a pick-up traveling southbound…”
“At no point did the truck travel into the construction area,” police said. “The City employee was transported to UMC with moderate injuries. No citations were issued.”
EverythingLubbock.com learned that Turpin was listed by University Medical Center in satisfactory condition on Friday.
