Climer trial suddenly on hold, “unforeseen circumstances”

LUBBOCK, Texas — The trial of Kody Climer was delayed unexpectedly on Wednesday morning.  Climer is on trial for murdering his mother in 2016, but to this day her body has not been found.

Jury selection was Monday, followed by opening arguments and testimony on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, the judge told the jury, “Due to unforeseen circumstances which I cannot explain to you why, I’m recessing you until 9:00 am Monday morning.”

When asked why the delay, prosecutors had no comment.

Climer, now age 48, was indicted after his mother, Linda Wilhite, turned up missing.  While her body was never found, police found a large quantity of blood in her home in the 6100 block of 38th Street.

The case was treated as a homicide from the very start. The trial will resume on Monday, May 13.
