City of Lubbock voters approved Proposition A, according to the unofficial final results, which now authorizes the City Council to abandon the Municipal Coliseum and Auditorium.  

The vote was 7,757 (52 percent) in favor and 7,231 (48 percent) against with all 36 vote centers reporting.  

The city charter requires voter approval before the council can permanently abandon the structure which is on Texas Tech’s campus.

Tech promised to absorb the cost of demolition.
