The following is a news release from Covenant Health:

The Covenant Health Foundation is bringing to the Cactus Theater its annual fundraising event Storytellers, now in its 17th year. The benefit is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. May 5 at the Cactus, 1812 Buddy Holly Ave., with a 5:30 p.m. pre-party at The Garden and 10:30 p.m. after-party at Tornado Alley.

This year’s featured songwriters are Heidi Newfield, Leslie Satcher and Sharon Vaughn, along with Big Al Anderson and Jay Boy Adams. Keeli Wilson is chairing the event with supporting co-chairs Troy and Elesha Tucker.

For information on remaining tickets, contact Heather McVay at the Covenant Foundation, (806) 725-6020 or heather.mcvay@stjoe.org.

Proceeds this year provide support for several projects at Covenant Children’s.

Dr. Amy Thompson, CEO of Covenant Children’s says the Storytellers event has been a delightful ongoing resource for their hospital.

“There isn’t a fundraising event we look forward to more than Storytellers,” Thompson said. “Not only is it a fantastic evening of entertainment, but our patients and families have benefitted so much from the generous donations our community contributes each and every year.”

About the Storytellers:

Heidi Newfield
Heidi Newfield’s voice and presence in country music first established her as the center stage
star of Trick Pony’s emergence in 2001. More than just a pretty face, she became famous for her
explosive stage presence, work ethic and dedication to her fans. Heidi has a collaborative history
of platinum selling albums, Top 20 singles, ACM and AMA Awards, and Grammy nominations
to credit.

Leslie Satcher
No other female Nashville singer-songwriter is more respected or more revered than Leslie Satcher. Primarily known as a country singer and songwriter, her talents cross all genres. She’s
written or co-written songs that have been recorded by the likes of Willie Nelson to Ariana Grande. Her typical year will include more than 150 songwriting sessions and 65 live performances.

Sharon Vaughn
Sharon Vaughn started her career in music as a recording artist. After being discovered by the late Mel Tillis, Sharon spent years as a session singer until her first self-penned song became a hit for the Oak Ridge Boys, followed by MY HEROES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN COWBOYS for Waylon Jennings. She was honored for her contribution to music by the Country Music Hall of Fame as a Poets and Prophets, Legendary Songwriter.

Big Al Anderson
Big Al’s commanding voice and jaw-dropping guitar virtuosity brought distinction to the acclaimed band NRBQ for over two decades. His songs have been recorded by a diverse mix of
nearly 900 artists from The Allman Brothers to Bonnie Raitt to ZZ Top. With a catalog of songs that have sold over 40 million to date, Musician Magazine named him one of the top 100
guitarists of the 20th century.

Jay Boy Adams
Singer, songwriter and guitarist Jay Boy Adams does more than just refute F. Scott Fitzgerald’s maxim that there are no second acts in American lives. He not only proves that a musical artist can enjoy a second musical career even more fulfilling than his impressive first time around, but also just how rich an American life can be through the many chapters of his fascinating life story.
