Cowboy’s owner Jerry Jones joined his entire team Monday evening in kneeling before the National Anthem. Jones then stood with the players and interlocked arms throughout the song.
The Cowboys then tweeted a picture of Jones and team members kneeling with the hashtag #FootballIsFamily.
NFL players have been harshly criticized by many including President Donald Trump for not standing during the national anthem. Critics consider it a sign of disrespect to kneel instead of stand. Technically, the Cowboys did both — kneeling before the anthem and then standing during it.
KTRK reported that boos could be heard from fans in Glendale, Arizona as the Cowboys took a knee before their game with the Arizona Cardinals.
