Shonda McCoy, 40, of Shallowater was indicted Tuesday by a Lubbock County grand jury for manslaughter in the death of a 74-year-old woman.
McCoy was involved in a crash at the intersection of at U.S. Highway 84 at Farm to Market Road 2641 in May of 2015. DPS at the time said McCoy failed to yield the right of way.
Officials on Tuesday said her blood alcohol level was 0.04 which is not above the legal limit. However, they also said she also took opiates.
Doris Phillips, 74, was the passenger in a car driven by Bryan Phillips, 74, of Shallowater. Mrs. Phillips died and Mr. Phillips suffered critical injuries. McCoy was injured and so was her 1-year-old daughter, DPS said at the time of the crash.
McCoy was not listed in jail records as of early Tuesday evening.
