Lubbock resident Samantha Fields will announce her candidacy to run for Texas House District 84.
She is currently a board member of the South Plains Chapter of Texas Democratic Women, the Panhandle Regional Director for Texas Young Democrats, a regional board member for Our Revolution Texas/South Plains-Panhandle, a member of the Lubbock Tejano Democrats, Lubbock Area Young Democrats, and South Plains Advocates for Rights and Community.

Samantha Carrillo Fields was born and raised in Lubbock, TX. She attended Dupre Elementary, the previously named campus Dunbar Junior High Science Academy, and then graduated in 2005 from Monterey High School.

She received her Bachelor’s in Fine Arts from Eastern New Mexico University in 2009 with an emphasis in University Theatre Studies, her primary work being done in playwriting. During her time at Eastern, she met her now husband and followed him to Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX where he completed his Master’s Degree in History. Upon completion of his degree and ending her employment at the Wichita Falls Health Department with WIC (Women, Infants, and Children), the family then relocated to Lubbock, TX to his work on his Ph.D. in History at Texas Tech University. While here, they have raised two children who now attend Ramirez Elementary School and have become active participants in the Lubbock County Democratic Party.

In her spare time, she has worked and volunteered at her children’s Parents Day Out Program and elementary school. She has also helped organize voter registration efforts throughout the county, including local high schools, grocery stores, and community events.
