A teenager died Wednesday afternoon in a fiery crash south of Brownfield, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.

The crash took place about eight miles south of Brownfield on US 62/82 at approximately 4:45 p.m. Wednesday.

DPS said a tractor trailer was traveling northbound when a pickup struck it from behind. 

The pickup caught on fire, killing 17-year-old Patrick Daley and caused incapacitating injuries to his two brothers, 19-year-old James Daley and 9-year-old Bartley John Daley. James and Bartley John were transported to University Medical Center in Lubbock.

The semi-trailer also caught on fire, but did not injure the driver, 55-year-old Jon Wade McKechnie.

DPS said the roadway will be closed due to extensive damage and traffic will be detoured.

As of 6 a.m. Thursday, James Daley was in serious condition, and Bartley John Daley was listed in satisfactory condition.
