A 14-year-old and a 41-year-old were killed Thursday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash north of Abernathy along I-27.
The Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the crash around 3:15 p.m., about two miles north of Abernathy.
A pickup was traveling south when a front driver tire blew out, DPS said. The blowout caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, rolling in the center median and coming to rest upside down in the northbound lane shoulder.
The driver was identified as Ervin Eugene Sheppard, 41, of North Carolina. The name of the 14-year-old was not released.
All lanes of traffic are open.
