The Department of Public Safety responded to a single motorcycle crash around 5:15 p.m. Thursday in Terry County.

According to DPS, heavy rain mixed with hail was pouring when the crash occurred about four miles north of US 62/82. The investigation shows the cause of the crash was likely weather related.

Jimmie Joe Wilson, 74, of Longview, was transported by ambulance to University Medical Center in Lubbock. His condition is unknown at this time, but DPS said he had incapacitating injuries.

A friend of Wilson’s was riding ahead of him, but he did not see the crash. The friend was not injured.

“A Lovington, New Mexico, ambulance happened to come upon the crash and was able to assist Wilson, and Brownfield EMS transported Wilson to UMC,” DPS said.
