The Texas Department of Public Safety was dispatched to reported traffic accident in North Lubbock County Saturday evening that killed an Abernathy man.
The accident was reported around 7:00 p.m. on Farm-to-Market Road 597, approximately 1.5 mile east of Abernathy.
According to the DPS, the preliminary investigation indicated a Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling eastbound and failed to negotiate a curve on FM 597.
The driver overcorrected, which caused the vehicle to roll, ejecting the driver.
DPS reported the driver was pronounced dead at the accident scene.
Authorities identified the victim Sunday morning as Randy Joe Hood, 60, of Abernathy.
Mr. Hood was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, the DPS said.
