The Texas Department of Public Safety on Tuesday released information about a deadly crash that happened on Friday afternoon in Dawson County.
DPS said three people were hurt and one died in the crash along Highway 87 three miles south of O’Donnell. DPS said Joe R. Guerra, 23, of Lubbock was driving a pickup truck north along Highway 87.
DPS said the truck “failed to maintain a single lane, left the roadway and rolled.”
DPS said a passenger, Ernesto L. Piedra, 41, of Lubbock, died at the scene. Guerra was taken to Medical Arts Hospital in Lamesa. Passengers Alonzo A. Garcia and Angel A. Duran were also taken to area hospitals.
Conditions were clear and dry, according to DPS. The posted speed limit was 75. A crash summary from DPS said the only person not wearing a seat belt was Piedra.
