The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a man was arrested Sunday afternoon after leading authorities in a high-speed chase across several South Plains counties. 

Jacob Silvas, 33, was taken into custody by authorities without incident around 1:45 p.m.

DPS said a trooper attempted to stop the Chevrolet Impala at 82nd Street and Avenue P in Lubbock for a traffic violation around 1:00 p.m. 

The chase, which at times reached speeds near 115 mph, went through portions of Lubbock, Lynn, Terry and Hockley County. 

The chase ended approximately 45 minutes later on Farm-to-Market Road 2641, just east of County Road 1440, south of Shallowater. 

DPS said Silvas was charged with evading with a motor vehicle, tampering/fabricating evidence and possession of marijuana.
