A police report provides new information on a deadly accident which happened Thursday at about 1:40 a.m. in the 1000 block of Slide Road.
Police said Davion Boswell, 18, was pronounced deceased at the scene. A police statement said he had been riding a bicycle when he was struck by a car. The driver, Laura Madison Reynolds, 23, was arrested for DWI.
A police report said a passenger in Reynold’s car was in a “frantic state” and was unable to talk much with officers. Reynolds told police she and her passenger left a nightclub near 4th Street and Slide Road.
Reynolds told police, “[She] was going home when [Boswell] came out of nowhere causing the collision. [Reynolds] advised me several times that she had only had one drink…”
The police report said Reynolds did not do well on a field sobriety test.
During a one-leg stand, “[Reynolds] nearly fell on two occasions and was unable to complete this test.”
She agreed to a blood test, and the results of the test were pending at the time of the police report. She was taken to the Lubbock County Detention Center on a class B misdemeanor charge of DWI.
She was released from jail on Thursday night.
A police statement on Thursday said, “The investigation is on-going and additional charges are possible.”
