LUBBOCK, Texas — Kara L. Darnell and Phillip Hays appear to be headed for a runoff election in the Republican race for 99th District judge’s race in the March 3 Texas Primary.

Darnell had 42.35 percent in the final unofficial vote total while Hays had 30.48 percent. Mark McBrayer had 18.30 percent and John Grace had 8.87 percent.

May 26 is set aside by the state for the primary runoff election.

In the Republican Primary for the State District Judge in the 140th Judicial District, Douglas H. Freitag and Tom Brummett appear to be headed for a runoff. Freitag had 45.04 percent of the vote while Brummett had 25.82 percent. Ryan C. Gentry had 10.82 percent and Robert Sullivan had 18.33 percent.

There is no Democrat in either the 99th District race or the 140th District race.
