From 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 28th, the public is invited to participate in exciting *free hands-on Earth & Space Science activities in celebration of Earth & Space Day! Earth & Space Day activities will be located in the lobby of the Science Spectrum and will include activities not only about space, but geology, astrophysics, heliophysics and other sciences, math, engineering and technology.

Those visiting the Science Spectrum will be able to participate in various Earth & Space Science hands-on activities, and attend SpaceBubble planetarium shows.

Kid-friendly Hands-on Activity Stations will include:

  • Paper Mountains – What happens after the storm?
  • Pack a Space Telescope – Make a miniature model of the Webb space telescope.
  • Exoplanet Transits – How do astronomers discover new planets?
  • Objects in Motion – Take gravity for a spin!
  • Filtered Light – See some space images in a new light!
  • Stomp Rockets – Pack your tools and blast off!
  • Magnetic Fields – How are magnetic fields on Earth and the Sun different!
  • Mars Rovers – Work together to explore Mars!
  • Craters – Make your own impact crater!
  • Hide and Seek Moon – Can you fine the animal shapes hidden on the Moon?
  • Special screenings of the film The Search for Life in Space will be offered in the OMNI Theater at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 & 3:00 p.m. on this day.

Earth & Space Day celebrates the extraordinary achievements, benefits and opportunities of space exploration and the practical application of experimentation conducted in space. The ultimate goal of Earth & Space Day is to promote math, science, technology and engineering education by nurturing people’s enthusiasm for the wonders of the universe and inspiring them to continue the stellar work of today’s explorers.

Earth & Space Day is being held as a part of the Explore Science: Earth & Space collaboration between the National Informal STEM Education Network and NASA.

Standard ticket rates for museum admission, Grossology the exhibition, and other OMNI Theater films will apply.
