A small but dedicated group of American Legion Riders are crossing the U.S. on a mission to raise money for the California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery located on the former Fort Ord in Seaside, CA. The Ride, which began September 4th , will cover 10,000 miles and 33 states taking the American Legion Riders from Salinas, CA to Bar Harbor, Maine and back again. They are carrying an American flag from the Central Coast Veterans Cemetery to Arlington National Cemetery where the flag will be flown over the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier before returning to California.  Other Riders and motorcycle enthusiasts are invited to join along the Ride route and be part of the flag’s journey.

The Cemetery is a fitting tribute and meaningful final resting place acknowledging the heroism and sacrifice of all veterans who have served our nation, as well as a place of particular significance for the 1.5 million American soldiers who trained at former Fort Ord from 1940-1975.

The cross-country Ride will stop in Lubbock on September 7th. Daily highlights of the trip will be featured on the Rider’s Facebook page (Ride for Dignity and Remembrance).
