Lubbock Fire Rescue began an evacuation near the intersection of 87th Street and Indiana Avenue just after 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. A large gas line was hit.
A spokesman for the City of Lubbock said, “A City of Lubbock sewer crew was performing routine maintenance when they hit a gas line.”
It was not yet clear how many homes or businesses would be impacted.
