A former Texas Tech football assistant and Sweetwater middle school teacher/coach was sentenced Monday to six years in prison for sexual assault of a child.
Kevin Oliver was previously indicted on three charges: sexual assault of a child, improper relationship between educator and student, and indecency with a child.
He resigned from his position with Sweetwater ISD in September 2016 once police began investigating allegations.
Oliver worked in high school relations/quality control at Texas Tech, according to a staff bio.
Oliver was a graduate assistant for Tommy Tuberville, and footage of Tuberville slapping the head of Oliver on the sideline went viral in 2012.
