The following is a news release from Habitat for Humanity Lubbock:

Homeownership for someone will become a reality thanks to the partnership between EXIT Realty of Lubbock and Habitat for Humanity Lubbock.  The results of that partnership will be announced Monday, July 23 at a sold-out event to held at E & J Smokehouse Event Center at Spirit Ranch.

“EXIT Realty of Lubbock is proud to sponsor a complete home build with Habitat for Humanity in Lubbock.  Our franchise, EXIT Realty Corp. International, has agreed to a matching fund donation up to $42,900 in order to help us reach our goal of $85,800, which will build an entire home,” stated Russell McGuire, co-owner of EXIT Realty.  “We are hosting this July 23rd fundraising event to help reach that goal.  We are excited that Craig Witt, US President for Exit Realty, will be on hand for the event and to take part in the check presentation. ” McGuire concluded.

“Habitat is very humbled that EXIT Realty partnered with us to make someone’s dream of homeownership a reality,” stated Marie Hanza, Executive Director for Habitat for Humanity of Lubbock.  “While most people think of Habitat has a builder of homes, Habitat is actually in the business of changing individual lives.  Homeownership plays such an important role in an individual’s life because it helps build strength, stability and self-reliance. Habitat thanks EXIT Realty for the countless hours its agents have worked to make this event a success.  It has been such a pleasure working Gene and Russell and with everyone that make up EXIT Realty, ” Hanza concluded.

Through donations of money, materials, and volunteer labor, Lubbock Habitat is able to build the home and then sell it an affordable price. Low to moderate income individuals purchase a home with an affordable mortgage.  The mortgage payments are then used to build more Habitat homes.  As a requirement of the program, prospective homebuyers, complete 500 hours of “sweat equity”, working on their home, the homes of others, and attending homeowner education classes.

Individuals interested in becoming a Habitat homeowner should call the Habitat office at 806-763-4663 and asked that their name be placed on the mailing list to receive information for the next open application period.
