Lubbock Fire Rescue was called to the scene of a fire in the 500 block of East Loyola Street Friday during the noon hour.  Four adults and one baby were left homeless because of the fire.

One of the residents left homeless, Mercy Carrasco, said “My aunt called me and told me my house was on fire.”

The initial assessment is that everything in the house was damaged or destroyed.

“We’ve lived in this home for 14 years,” Carrasco said.  “It was our home. We had my grandbaby here, my daughter, our son and myself and my husband.”

“Please keep us in your prayers,” Carrasco said. “That’s the most important thing because God’s in control of everything.”

“It’s really, really bad but something good should come out of it.”

No injuries were reported, and there was no word yet on the cause of the fire.  Carrasco was told it might have started in an oven the kitchen or the back of the house.
