The following is a press release from Texas Tech University:
LUBBOCK, Texas (PRESS RELEASE) — Texas Tech will host an official watch party at United Supermarkets Arena on Monday night as fans are invited to cheer on the Red Raiders in the national championship game against Virginia.
Tech will air the game live on the arena video boards with doors opening at 7 p.m. in anticipation of the 8:20 p.m. tip from Minneapolis. Admission is free and all seating will be based on a first-come, first-served basis. Arena doors will close at halftime or before if capacity has been reached.
Parking will be available in the lots located directly north and west of United Supermarkets Arena. Similar to regular men’s basketball home games, Tech will provide a free shuttle service to the arena from the S1 parking lots near the John Walker Soccer Complex. Shuttle services will begin at 6:45 p.m. and run until an hour after the game ends.
Tech will have its regular concession items available at various stands throughout the concourse. Fans are reminded that Tech’s regular Clear Bag Policy for all home events will be in effect Monday evening.
The Red Raiders, who topped Michigan State, 61-51, to advance to the championship game, will be searching for the second team national title in school history Monday against No. 1 seed Virginia. The Lady Raider basketball program, backed by the likes of future Hall of Famers in Sheryl Swoopes and head coach Marsha Sharp, claimed Tech’s first national title in 1993.
