Several Levelland families without a home Thursday night as a multiple structure fire destroyed three homes.

“We heard the sirens coming, knew they were coming down the road,” Neighbor Roxanne Storch said. “Opened our door and we just saw the heavy smoke down that way.”

“I feel so sorry for them, I really pray for them that they are alright because I don’t know how much of anything that got left, which is terrible,” Storch added.

Hockley County Sheriff Ray Scrifres told KLBK News and EverythingLubbock.com that they responded to the 2300 block of Robert E Lee at 2:45 p.m.

“At this point, just from being over there, looks like there’s three,” Scrifres said. “There could be more obviously. Kind of a chaotic scene over there right now but multiple structures. No one has been injured, everyone has been moved out of the area for their safety.”

Levelland Fire Department, West Carlisle Fire, and Sundown Fire also responded to this area.

“I couldn’t imagine getting that close to the fire,” Storch said. “I saw several people bringing water taking down there and I get too got to walk down there that far so i just said i just opened up my store and anybody needs anything come on in.”

Officials gave no reports of injuries at this time.

As of 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Levelland Fire said the area is cleared and safe once again. They’re working to determine a cause of this fire.
