UPDATE: (This is a statement from the Lubbock Fire Department Facebook Page) At 9:10 am this morning units responded to a reported structure fire at 2507 70th. Units arrived and found a fire in the west end of the residence which had extended from the garage into the attic. Shortly after crews began fighting the fire the roof began to sag and units pulled outside for a defensive attack. An aerial was used to put the attic fire out and crews finished up with handlines. This residence had suffered previous fire damage last November where two residents perished. At this time the house is vacant and someone had forced entry into the structure. At this time the fire is classified as undetermined and the investigation is open. Any one with information on this fire is encouraged to contact the Fire Marshal’s Office at (806) 775-2646.
