Justin Angel Flores, 22, of Lubbock pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence Thursday morning.  A murder charge against him was dropped, and he was sentenced to 7 years in prison.

Flores was one of two suspects arrested for the stabbing death of a woman in October of 2015.

Police were called to the 1600 block of 45th Street for the report of a woman slumped over in a car.  Nakasha Nycole Nolan, 23, died at the scene.

A second suspect, Ruben Ramos III, is currently serving a life sentence for Nolan’s murder.  He was convicted and sentenced by a jury in 2017.

According to previous court records, one witness told police that Ramos believed Nolan was a snitch (someone who cooperates with police).

Also, according to previous court records, Ramos confessed and told police a second man participated in the stabbing.  That later led to the arrest of Flores on a murder charge.

But after the sentencing, a prosecutor said tampering was the right charge for the evidence.  Prosecutors believe Ramos was the one who stabbed Nolan.
