The Texas Department of Public Safety on Tuesday evening said former Slaton ISD teacher and coach Dustin Ray Leonard, 28, was arrested for “inappropriate relations with a student.”
Leonard was taken into custody by the Texas Rangers.
Slaton ISD released the following statement after Leonard’s arrest:
“Slaton ISD is fully cooperating with law enforcement in an investigation of former employee Dustin Leonard where he worked as a high school teacher and boys coach for 2 years. Mr. Leonard was taken into custody today by Texas Rangers.
He resigned from Slaton ISD in April 2018 citing ‘personal and family concerns.’”
Leonard was held Tuesday evening in the Lubbock County Detention Center. His bond was not yet listed on the jail booking sheet.
